Reiki originated in Japan and is a complementary healing and holistic technique in which practitioners can help your body heal, rest, and restore through a gentle touch. Some benefits of Reiki are to reduce stress, promote relaxation, enhance the immune system, and ease pain. It is your body’s innate ability to heal itself that is activated. Reiki is helpful whether you are working on physical, mental/emotional, or spiritual issues. The benefits of Reiki have been recognized in many hospitals including Newton Wellesley, Boston Children’s, Emerson and Dana Faber. Reiki is done lying down fully clothed with a gentle hands-on touch on different points of the body.
Pam, a Reiki Master, was trained by Libby Barnett, one of the oldest Masters in the country. Libby has trained thousands of people in Reiki including nurses in many hospital systems. Pam is a Reiki volunteer at Newton Wellesley Hospital and a volunteer at an elementary school in Newton. She also has a Masters in Education from Harvard University and has worked in local schools for years. In addition, she is a Kripalu trained yoga instructor. One of her clients describes her as having such a calm, gentle, manner that makes you feel instantly comfortable. These qualities in addition to her empathy and professionalism make her a fantastic practitioner. Sessions with her are soothing, relaxing and regenerative. Pam feels that it is a profound privilege to provide Reiki for people.
