Katy Dirks is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Addictions Counselor who works with individuals, couples and families to help them reach their goals of well-being. Katy has worked in many environments including residential treatment, community mental health, drug court and integrative medical practices.
Katy is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and this is the foundation of her practice though she integrates components of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) , Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and other modalities during treatment. She believes firmly that we are innately programmed with the capacity to heal both physically and psychologically and that strengthening the mind-body connection is essential to the journey.
Individual sessions with Katy are completely confidential and she offers self-pay options to avoid insurance reporting. She is also starting a group therapy option for family members of those struggling with Substance Use Disorder in the fall of 2022.
In addition to her work as a therapist, Katy is an adjunct professor at University of Massachusetts/ Boston in the Addiction Counselor Education Program. Katy and her husband live in the Boston area and have 4 children.
