What is Reiki? Pronounced “ray-key”. Reiki is the Japanese word for “Universal Life Force Energy”. Reiki is an energy balancing system developed in Japan over 100 years ago. Reiki balances the body’s energy field and energy centers (chakras). Reiki promotes relaxation, while reducing stress and anxiety. The client lay on a massage table fully clothed and the practitioner lightly places their hands on top of the body in different positions.. The practitioner acts like a conduit and the energy flows through the hands of the practitioner to the client. As Reiki flows, the energy interacts with the cells to balance and harmonize their functions. The practitioner can also work from the client’s aura in which hands would be placed a few inches away from the body, opposed to on the body.
